If you haven’t already heard, there has been a lot of hype about “The End of the World” being December 21, 2012. What is all this excitement about? The end of the world?

Oh, come on! There have been dooms day profits telling us the end is near for centuries …. And we are all still here!

How is this prophecy any different than the insane ranting of the past?

For starters, this prophecy comes from several different sources.
  • The Book of Revelations in the Bible.

  • The Mayan calendar. That’s where they came up with the exact date.

  • The Aztec calendar. Even though many say this was just a copy of the Mayan calendar.

  • The 5000 year old I-Ching. Known for predicting the fall of the Roman Empire, the discovery of America, World War I, and World War II.

  • The Sybil Prophecies. “These things in the tenth generation shall come to pass. The Earth shall be shaken by a great earthquake that throws many cities into the sea. There shall be war. Fire shall come flashing down from the heavens and many cities will burn. Black ashes shall fill the great sky. Then know the Anger of the Gods.”

  • NASA predicts that our current 11-year sunspot cycle will end during 2012.

  • Mother Shipton. Richard Head, the author of The Life and Death of Mother Shipton later admitted to inventing almost all of Shipton’s biographical details, but the prophesies connected with her were very accurate, even though the existence of Mother Shipton herself is uncertain. She predicted many catastrophic events bringing an end to our civilization.

  • Native American tribes. The Hopi Prophecy predicts a major war destroying The United States.

  • Nostradamus.

Is all this simply coincidence? Is all this just more hype? Maybe, but what if the skeptics, including me, are wrong about 2012?

What if the looming prediction that our entire planet will suffer from horrible catastrophe on the morning of December 21st, turns out to be true?

Perhaps it is time to put aside our superior egos and investigate where these predictions come from.
